A beautiful race morning to greet the 25th Anniversary of the Wilkes Barre Triathlon. 
For over 25 years this committee of family and friends bond and work together to
present an event special to the sport and special to each and every committee member and volunteers.
  A big thank you to all the volunteers who make it happen year after year.
With $15,000 in cash awards a very competitive field came to present their best. 
Very exciting racing with many relay teams
and most excellent age group divisions!
A treat for all.  Thank you everyone for a great racing day.

Start of the Future Triathlete Run on Sat. morning.  48 finishers.	They were all winners on race day!
1st Male Overall with raised arm with a big finish - went to Marcel Vifian, 37 yrs. old, from Park City UT in 1:59:33.  Seated next to him is 2nd Male Overall David Thompson, 28 yrs. old, from St. Paul, MN in 1:59:41.  Marcel takes home the $3,000 first prize with David Thompson claiming the $1,500 second cash award.	Taking a big solo win was a Wilkes Barre favorite, Karen Smyers, 45 yrs. old, from Lincoln, MA in 2:13:28.  She took the 1st Overall female award of $3,000. (see below photos for more overall winners at the awards ceremony)
1st Overall Female Karen Smyers (1:59:33 - $3,000), in the red shirt with Laurie Hug, 41 yrs. old from Ambler, PA (in the blue & white shirt) who took a nice 2nd female overall win for the $1,500 award. Third overall was Bianca Simpson, 31 yrs. old, Lyndell, PA in 2:22:35 for the $950 3rd place award.  Hollie Kenney, 34 yrs. old, from Baltimore, MD was 4th female in 2:25:37 claiming the $750 cash award; with Jacqui Gordon, 33 yrs. old, from Point Pleasant, NJ taking the 5th overall award of $550 in a time of 2:26:47.  Congratulations ladies on a most excellent racing day.	^Again, Starting with Marcel Vifian, 1st overall male in 1:59:33 - $3,000 2nd Overall Male was David Thompson, 28 yrs. old, St. Paul MN, in 1:59:41 - $1,500 3rd Overall: Jeffrey Boyd, 27 yrs. old, Atlanta, GA 2:03:25 - $950 4th Overall: Paul Fritzsche, 29 yrs. old, Danbury, CT, 2:05:13 - $750 5th Overall: John Kenny, 26 yrs. old, Atlantic City, NJ 2:06:29 - $550 6th Overall: Robert Lythgoe, 28 yrs. old, Phila., PA 2:10:03 - $425 All looking good and giving everyone a really excellent day to be part of a special year at the Wilkes Barre Triathlon 2006.
